Adler Moves in on Second Nitro Coupe Championship

little kidWe’re pretty sure that this little fella would prefer a Nitro Coupe.

The “thud” heard just outside of Detroit, Michigan, on Sunday (9/10) may have been Randy Adler shutting the door on the rest of the field in the Super Chevy Show's Mickey Thompson Nitro Coupe challenge at the inaugural Super Chevy Show at Milan Dragway. Adler, from Tinley Park, Ilinois, outdueled Michigan's Brian Robbins for the Nitro Coupe title in Milan. That win leaves the other championship contenders with only three events left to haul in Adler, who scored the Nitro Coupe world championship in 2004 as a rookie.

In the final, Adler turned in a workmanlike 6.431 at 222.81 mph behind the wheel of his 2006 Pontiac GTO to take the win over Robbins, whose Hurst Oldsmobile clocked a 6.538 at 222.63 mph. Adler now leads the World Championship chase by 50 points over his nearest rival, Tony "Sandman" Williams of Millington, Tennessee, with only three events left to make up ground.
