If there’s one party that every car enthusiast should attend at least once in their life it’s the Corvette Funfest at Mike Yager’s Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois.  Hosted by Mike and his family, which includes his wife and two adult sons and about a million “other” members, the Funfest has grown to be what is arguably the largest yearly gathering of Corvette aficionados on the planet.

This September’s show marked the 13th year in a row that the Yager’s have put on what is essentially a customer appreciation event, and as has been the case in each previous year, the 2006 edition was bigger and better than the previous edition.  Corvettes and their owners from literally every corner of the North American continent plan a trip to come to this mid-American crossroads community where life is usually calm and comfortable and people stop by when they’re traversing the highway between St. Louis and Chicago.  But every year at this time parking lots of hotels and motels for miles around are filled with a colorful array of plastic cars and their owners talking about them for hours before hitting their pillows and falling asleep.
