Southern California’s John Scialpi took a trip to Texas and shot down the field to take top honors - and the bag of loot -in the San Antonio Nitro Coupe final at the popular Super Chevy Show. The veteran racer might have dodged a bullet when Zach Barklage crossed the center line and was instantly disqualified.

John Scialpi of West Covina, California, doesn't run the entire Mickey Thompson Nitro Coupe Challenge on the Super Chevy Show circuit, but the veteran racer did make his trip to Texas a profitable one as he proceeded to march through a tough field of competitors to take the Nitro Coupe title at the San Antonio Raceway event.

Scialpi had to contend with the ever-tough Barklage brothers, Cody and Zach, on his way up the ladder to the San Antonio winner's circle.  Cody Barklage grabbed the coveted top qualifying position as he demonstrated a ton of speed in nailing down the pole position with a 6.314 at 226.47 mph blast.  But Cody’s stellar qualifying performance wasn’t good enough to hold off his sibling rival, brother Zach, who trailered the pole-sitter in the semis.

Zach’s brother Cody, grabbed the top spot in qualifying with a speedy 6.31 at more than 226 mph.  Zach got the best of the sibling match up, though, as he nailed Cody in the semis.

We’ll bet that Red Line Oil is proud of this little racer!
