Weather has the final say - Chris Duncan Pro Mod Super Series at Cordova, Ill.

Neal Wantye

The Chris Duncan Pro Mod Super Series was set for a classic Pro Modified final round with Dan Stevenson’s nitrous-injected Camaro fresh off of a 3.97-second run against Low Qualifier “Fast” Eddie Rogers’ supercharged ‘Vette. It was all for naught, though, as rains moved over Cordova Dragway Park causing the final round to be postponed.

Dan Stevenson, with tuning help from Pro Mod nitrous legend Charles Carpenter, had low ET of the meet with a 3.97.

In qualifying it was defending series champ Eddie Rogers leading the way in his Chris Duncan Race Cars-built 2006 supercharged Corvette with a 3.98-second elapsed time. Behind Rogers was Stevenson with a 3.99 effort.

Another newcomer to the series, Neal Wantye, got the third spot with a 4.04-second pass at 187 mph in the third session.

Monte Grace qualified fourth with a 4.14 lap on the Friday night session, killing his motor in the process, which led to a long night of thrashing to get ready for first round on Saturday.
