Super Chevy Show at Palm Beach International Raceway

The Super Chevy Show began the 2015 season at Palm Beach International Raceway near Jupiter, Florida.

SATURDAY, March 28

Saturday started out with overcast skies and temperatures in the 60's. Time runs began promptly at the scheduled 10 a.m. start time. Opening ceremonies and eliminations ran smoothly most of the day until a brief oil down at the top end of the track halted progress in the early evening. Racing was complete just before 10 p.m.

In the Bracket 1 class 53 cars, trucks, and dragsters entered round 1 looking for victory. Throughout the day the door cars and trucks got knocked out one by one leaving a final round pairing of two dragsters. JP Hickman of Sarasota, Fla., driving his '06 Mullis dragster faced off against Randy Weber of Loxahatchee, Fla., in his '12 Miller dragster. At the start Weber fired a perfect reaction time of .000 seconds only to have problems going down the track. Hickmon took home victory having a .001-second reaction time, running 7.888 at 134.73 mph.

In the Bracket 2 class, also known as No Box, it was not a Chevy bodied car that took the overall victory. Steve Dweck from Hollywood, Fla., driving his '70 Z-28 Camaro faced off against the '68 Falcon of Loxahatchee, Fla., native Brandon James. Dweck dialed in a 9.66 to the 11.34 seconds of James. James left the tree in .060 seconds while Dweck waited 1.68 seconds for the green light. As the tree lit up for Dweck it was the red light that came on as he went -.030 to hand the win over to James who ended up making a pass of 11.336, 118.51 mph.
