Wind tunnel testing by race teams to find out how aerodynamic or un-aerodynamic a race car is isn’t news. Racers have been using wind tunnels virtually since they have started making cars over a hundred years ago. Unfortunately, for the most part you had to have been invited by someone who owned a wind tunnel or have a car manufacturer invite you to test. For the first time, General Motors is opening the doors to its Aerodynamics Laboratory, making wind tunnel testing available to approved private racing teams. The facility is located at GM’s Technical Center in Warren, Mich.
