Nothing screams hot rodding and drag racing like the Pomona Fairgrounds in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. In February at the Fairgrounds, you’ll find the NHRA Winternationals, and the World Finals fill the legendary Auto Club Pomona Raceway quarter mile, at the opposite end of the facility during November.

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by the Auto Club of Southern California is a great facility to visit and, during the monthly Twilight Cruise Nights, the Museum comes alive with hundreds of hot rods, classic cars and even a few vintage race cars to enjoy with family and friends for a late weekday afternoon.  You might even see a couple of the drag racing legends that often bring their own classic rods or vintage race cars to the gathering of classic sheet metal and chrome.

The Cruise Nights at the NHRA Motorsports Museum are always free, and are held on the first Wednesday of every month, except September when the LA County Fair takes up the same piece of land.  April marked the beginning of the 13th season, and it’ll run through Dec. 7, 2011, from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Twilight Cruises at the Museum make for a great family outing and won’t break your budget. Not only is admission to the Cruise free for you and your hot rod, but getting into the cool NHRA Museum is free of charge, too.  Inside the Museum you’ll find dozens of historic dragsters, funny cars, stockers, and bikes, along with photos and memorabilia from the past sixty years of NHRA drag racing history.  Just please, leave a couple of bucks in the Plexiglas donation bin inside the front door!
