The LSX Nova debuted at the NMCA Joliet race in July 2007. Originally, we’d built a 454 combination that made 900hp. At the time, we’d not received the upgraded C5R heads from GM Performance Parts, so we assembled the engine using the available C5R casting and had the four bottom bolt flanges welded in place. We were under a lot of pressure from GMPP to get the car to the Joliet race and Jeff Stealy worked very hard to get our bullet ready. Alas, during a qualifying pass, the cam gear bolts broke and the valves met the pistons up close and personal, thus ending the weekend.

The LSX block includes four extra bottom studs per side to coincide with the specific LSX cylinder heads for increased clamping power. ARP studs and bolts are used throughout
